March 2021

March 2021

In an almost complete reversal, March looked unrecognizable to last year. Concerts slowly returned as theatre and event venues reopened their doors, high school state basketball championships were held, spring sports were in full swing and even an Easter egg hunt or two happened.

It is exciting for me to see daily life return, a “new normal” supported by a robust COVID-19 vaccination rollout.

It felt surreal as I walked into a pharmacy at the end of the month to receive a dose. I was haunted by the images I made and the things I saw and experienced during the pandemic. Paramedics encapsulated in PPE removing COVID patients from ambulances, people on respirators, coronavirus testing sites and meeting people who lost entire families to the virus. The list goes on, and it all weighs on my mind. I cannot imagine what a paramedic or COVID nurse must feel. Taking the vaccine was the least I could do to help end this pandemic.
