School is back in session, football has returned to the gridiron, election season is ramping up and life
feels somewhat comfortable.
For a year of most things being cancelled or postponed I am thankful for sports. A football game never changes, and I can focus my creativity on presenting a game differently through finding new angles, new light and different moments. However, this year we are covering games differently. The network is having us stay in the end zones and away from other media, spectators and especially the team sidelines in an effort to protect us from coronavirus. I appreciate and agree with this effort, but I do miss going in the locker rooms for pregame hype, the celebration huddles and mingling in the crowd.
The risk far outweighs the reward and I’d rather stay healthy and work.
