May 2018

I’ve fallen into the cycle of beginning every blog post echoing the last – wow life is so busy!

But seriously! It is! There is so little downtime. Last month we photographed nearly all proms to save our page view numbers. This month we shot almost all graduations. While the prom galleries skyrocketed our page views into outer space, the graduation galleries barely kept us above water. With the summer months fast approaching, who knows what we are going to do 😬

For three months I worked on a story about local dairy farmers who lost their contracts after Dean Foods eliminated them due to an “overabundance of milk” on the market. I attended meetings, a farm auction and met with several farmers to produce this longform essay piece to tell their story. Creating the longform myself took two days, but I felt it told the story best.

I also produced a fun video of some of our staff (including myself) taste testing some weird new Oreo flavors. I even wrote an article and did a video about my co-worker Michael Patrick who photographed the construction of the Sunsphere. He’s got some crazy stories about it, definitely check it out! June, gimme what you got!my stuff
