Bonnaroo 2017

Bonnaroo 2017

My first Bonnaroo experience can be summed up in three words: So. Much. Fun.

Well before my departure to cover the four-day music festival with the USA Today Network, my editors and co-workers gave me an overwhelming amount of tips, advice and horror stories about their past Bonnaroo experiences. “What am I in for? Am I going to survive this?” I kept asking myself. Fortunately, my nerves were calmed after I effortlessly picked up my credentials, set up my camping tent and got myself situated with the USAT team.

Other than several assignments and performances that needed covering I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted. I put many miles on my shoes exploring the vast campgrounds, walking around the festival, running to shows and doing a couple of my own little feature videos.

Overall my experience was quite pleasant. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. I met people from Asia, Europe, and even a Cajun from Louisiana which I thought was cool. The most difficult part was the camping. Once the sun set the temperature dropped 15 degrees and the humidity got so bad it felt like my body was covered in honey. This made it very uncomfortable to sleep in a tent.

Here is a fun video I did on the Silent Disco, and below are some photos. Enjoy!
