Basketball Marathon

Basketball Marathon

I forgot how exciting high school women’s basketball could be!

This week I spent three days photographing the TSSAA State Girl’s Basketball Championships at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, TN. It’s been a while since my last photographic marathon where I photographed an event for several days, the last time being Summerfest last year.

I’ve never covered a state basketball championship before, and I was surprised by the amount of enthusiasm and energy the players, teams, coaches, cheerleaders and fans brought with them. The Murphy Center offered something I had never seen in a basketball stadium – window light. In the very late evening a ray of sunshine beamed onto the court for roughly three minutes, and after driving the shutter I was able to make one frame. Here are some photos from the weekend and a link to a video I made.
