Today I completed my first month interning with the Naples Daily News in Naples, Florida. So far it has been a lot of fun getting to know this city and its way of life. I left Milwaukee on May 28 and drove 16 hours south to Atlanta where I stayed overnight. I continued another eight hours until I hit Naples where it was over 95 degrees and sunny. A big difference coming from 50 degrees and raining!
My first order of business: buy a pair of shorts. A loyal Kohl’s shopper, I made my way to the nearest Kohl’s department store and bought my first pair of shorts. Over the next few weeks I got acquainted with the newsroom staff and the daily routine. I usually have two assignments per day, mostly feature and business assignments. I am lucky to have a very knowledgeable photo editor who has been a great mentor for me. The other staff photographers are also very helpful and are always free to guide me and help me with my work. Here are some of my favorite frames from this month. I can’t wait for what July has in store for me!
